Rules and Policies

  • Musicians are required to perform ONE piece.

  • Parts must be played as indicated by composer OR with a reasonable substitution (example, a part written for a flute could be played by a violin) that honors the intention of the composer

  • All musicians may use music (no deduction, still eligible for Superior)

  • If the desired piece is not included on the suggested list with levels, please submit to the Festival Repertoire Committee upon registration for Festival.  Leveling will be based on the harp part.  Please consult with your harp teacher for "proposed" leveling.

  • All participating musicians will receive recognition (certificates, ribbons for Superiors, invitations to honors recital, etc)

                Beginner (Equivalent Levels 1-3)

                • Oh Dear! What Can the Matter Be - (Old Tunes for New Harpists) (Chamber if another musician plays or sings the Voice part as a duet)


                Beginner-Intermediate (Equivalent Levels 4-6)


                Intermediate (Equivalent Levels 7-8)

                • Bach Prelude in C + Ave Maria (any instrument) (harpist may not play Prelude in C in the solo category and a duet in the Ensemble Category during the same Festival)

                Intermediate-Advanced (Equivalent Levels 9-10)


                Advanced (Equivalent Levels 11 and above)

                • Sonata for Harp and Piano - Salzedo (this is not a concerto)
